Because all careers are careers in aging! A job candidate who has training in gerontology will be prepared to bring a life course perspective to any career field and will understand how aging affects the job they are hired to do. A gerontologist will also be trained to identify and avoid ageism. This will insure that the older market demographic is not inadvertently ignored or offended.
