Transportation

Career Field Overview

Changes in driving abilities are both a common concern about living longer and the reality for many people. When people need transportation to doctor’s appointments, grocery stores, recreational activities, or other destinations, they need to have access to alternatives to driving themselves (e.g., public transportation, Uber/Lyft, taxis, etc.) Professionals in this field should have a knowledge of gerontology to help in the planning, development, and implementation of travel and transportation methods specifically designed to meet the varied needs of the population.
