Real Estate

Career Field Overview

Older adults are moving in large numbers: in the United States between 2010 and 2019, the number of people over the age of 60 who relocated increased by 1.4 million. There is a need for real estate professionals with gerontological knowledge to serve older adults. Those in real estate with gerontological knowledge can help people make the best choice in terms of “rightsizing,” planning for potentially changing circumstances (of the homeowners and members of their social networks who may come to visit), identifying community resources that people may want and need as they age, and connecting clients to other service providers who can help support them as they relocate.
